Failure is always an option whenever you endeavor to do something great. No matter what the situation is, you can fail or succeed.

The good news is that the choice to succeed or fail rests entirely within you. It is based upon your desire to win. People who are committed to winning will win if they refuse to quit.

How do you choose to fail in sales? It may amaze you as to the ways a person can choose to become a failure in sales.

Refusing to grow professionally - no matter who good or bad you are at sales you must make a commitment to grow. This means you must devote time to learning your products, your company, your competition and your marketplace. When you do not take regular time to become better at your craft those who do will pass you up every time.

The good news about a sales profession is all of the skills necessary to succeed are both learnable and able to be duplicated. You just have to have the will.

Refusing to grow personally - You must become a person who can handle success if you hope to gain success and keep it. Many people (like instant lottery winners) become rich and lose it all within 3 years. Why? You must become the person you want to be. To not fail you must be continually growing.

Not understanding and mastering the sales process - Selling is a process. It follows a logical progression and once you understand the sales cycle (and which part of the cycle you are in with your client) you can navigate your way to unparalleled success. The key is knowing what comes next in the process.

Not understanding the psychology of a buyer - Many times sales people forget what it is like to be a buyer. They think that people buy because you tell them to or show them great products. People buy to meet their needs. Unless you understand their needs and address them with your product or service, they won't buy from you.

Failure should not be on the table when we discuss the direction of our lives. It should be crystal clear to us that success is the only option we are interested in.

Jim Rohn said "work on your business and you will make a living; work on yourself and you will make a fortune." Wise people who are serious about success always work on themselves.
